In a significant military operation, U.S. and Iraqi forces conducted a joint raid in western Iraq on August 29, targeting key ISIS leaders. The raid, which was meticulously planned over two months, resulted in the elimination of 15 ISIS militants, including high-ranking leaders. U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) reported that the operation was aimed at disrupting ISIS’s ability to orchestrate attacks against Iraqi civilians and U.S. allies.

The ISIS members were heavily armed, carrying weapons, grenades, and explosive “suicide” belts, which posed a serious threat during the operation. Fortunately, there were no civilian casualties reported.

Seven U.S. service members were injured during the raid. Five of them were wounded during combat, and two others sustained injuries from falls. Among the injured, two were evacuated for further medical treatment, but all are currently in stable condition.

The operation is part of ongoing efforts by U.S. and Iraqi forces to diminish the capabilities of ISIS in the region. Despite discussions earlier this year about potentially reducing the role of the international military coalition in Iraq, U.S. forces continue to play a crucial role in supporting Iraqi forces in their fight against ISIS.

The successful outcome of this operation highlights the effectiveness of the partnership between U.S. and Iraqi forces in maintaining regional stability and combating terrorism.
