The Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) launched airstrikes on the Lebanese city of Tyre on Monday, targeting Hezbollah infrastructure after warning residents to evacuate. The IDF said its strikes hit weapons depots, operational buildings, and observation posts used by Hezbollah for coordinating attacks on Israeli territory. Tyre, a known Hezbollah stronghold, houses the terror group’s Aziz regional unit, which Israel claims is responsible for numerous attacks.
Following the airstrikes, heavy smoke was visible over Tyre, with Lebanon’s National News Agency (NNA) reporting several strikes across the city, including one on a residential apartment. An evacuation alert was issued by IDF’s Arabic-language spokesperson, who urged civilians in certain areas of Tyre to move northward, away from Hezbollah facilities.
In parallel, rocket fire continued to target northern Israel. Sirens blared across Haifa and Western Galilee as approximately 115 rockets were launched by Hezbollah throughout the day. The IDF reported intercepting some rockets while others landed in open areas. No injuries were reported. Additionally, the IDF intercepted a drone launched from Lebanon over the Upper Galilee, successfully neutralizing it without injuries.
In related developments, a Lebanese soldier was reported injured in an Israeli strike near Kfar Dounine, and Hezbollah claimed its fighters ambushed Israeli forces near the border village of Kfar Kila, leading to further clashes. IDF operations over the past 24 hours targeted Hezbollah cells and destroyed rocket launchers in southern Lebanon, resulting in the deaths of numerous operatives.
Lebanese officials state that at least 1.2 million people have been displaced by recent Israeli strikes, with over 2,600 fatalities, the majority occurring in the last month. An AFP tally puts the toll at 1,634, acknowledging data gaps. The IDF estimates over 2,000 Hezbollah operatives have died in recent conflict.
