On Sunday, over 250 rockets and drones were fired by the Hezbollah terror group at northern and central Israel, resulting in several injuries and significant property damage, according to the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) and emergency medical services.
Injuries and Damages Reported
In northern Israel, a man in his 60s sustained serious shrapnel injuries to the stomach while working in a field near Kfar Blum. He was transported to Ziv Hospital in Safed for treatment.
In Haifa, two men in their 50s were lightly injured by shrapnel during a barrage that also caused damage to residential buildings. A separate attack in the Western Galilee wounded a woman in her 50s and damaged a factory in Ma’alot-Tarshiha.
In central Israel, several rockets targeted areas north of Tel Aviv, including Netanya and Herzliya. A rocket impacted Petah Tikvah, where a 70-year-old woman was moderately injured due to smoke inhalation after her car caught fire. Homes in Rinatya suffered heavy damage from another rocket strike, though no injuries were reported as the homeowners were away at the time.
Rocket Barrages and Defense Measures
The IDF reported that air defense systems intercepted most of the rockets and drones launched during the attacks. Early Sunday morning, 30 rockets and drones were fired, with two drones intercepted successfully. In the afternoon, six rockets targeted central Israel, five of which were intercepted, while one landed in an open area.
Subsequent barrages included eight rockets, with one striking Petah Tikvah and another landing in Rinatya. Additional rockets fired in the evening were mostly intercepted or fell in open areas.
IDF Responds with Strikes in Beirut
In response to the attacks, the IDF issued evacuation warnings for two buildings in the Hezbollah stronghold of Dahiyeh, Beirut’s southern suburbs, before conducting airstrikes. Lebanese media confirmed Israeli strikes in the area.
The IDF also targeted a Hezbollah rocket launcher responsible for earlier attacks on Haifa. Footage of the strike was released, showing the military’s efforts to neutralize ongoing threats.
Civilian Impact
The relentless rocket fire caused widespread anxiety among civilians. Emergency medical teams treated several people for minor injuries and acute anxiety after running to shelters. The incidents underscore the escalating conflict along the Israel-Lebanon border.
As the situation continues to evolve, both sides have ramped up their military activities, raising concerns of further escalation.
