Two IDF Soldiers Killed, Four Wounded in Northern Gaza Combat; UN Aid Convoy Fired Upon

Two Israeli soldiers were killed, and four others seriously injured during combat in northern Gaza on Monday, according to the Israel Defense Forces (IDF). The slain soldiers were identified as Maj. Dvir Zion Revah, 28, from Jerusalem, and Cpt. Eitan Israel Shiknazi, 24, from Eli. Both served in the Nahal Brigade’s 932nd Battalion, with Revah as a company commander and Shiknazi as his deputy. The incident occurred in Beit Hanoun, although further details were not immediately released.

This brings Israel’s toll in its ongoing ground offensive against Hamas in Gaza to 397 military personnel. In a separate incident, two more Nahal Brigade soldiers were seriously injured in northern Gaza, and were evacuated for medical treatment.

The IDF also took action following a shooting incident involving a UN World Food Programme (WFP) convoy. The convoy, which was traveling from southern Gaza to the northern Strip, was fired upon despite having received necessary clearances from Israeli authorities. At least 16 bullets struck the convoy, but no WFP staff members were harmed. The IDF later stated that their instructions to soldiers have been “sharpened” to prevent similar occurrences.

Meanwhile, the Hamas-run health ministry in Gaza reported that 49 people were killed in the past 24 hours, bringing the total death toll in Gaza to 45,854, although these figures remain unverified.

The ongoing conflict, which began in October 2023, continues to inflict significant damage on Gaza’s infrastructure and civilian population, with Israel targeting Hamas militants while attempting to minimize civilian casualties.
