Trump Warns Hamas: Release Hostages or Face Consequences

Trump Issues Ultimatum to Hamas Over Hostages

Former U.S. President Donald Trump issued a stern warning to Hamas on Wednesday, demanding the immediate release of all remaining hostages held in Gaza. His statement, posted on Truth Social, came after a meeting with eight former hostages at the White House.

“Release all of the Hostages now, not later, and immediately return all of the dead bodies of the people you murdered, or it is OVER for you,” Trump declared. He also vowed to send Israel “everything it needs to finish the job.”

The warning follows reports that U.S. officials have engaged in unprecedented direct talks with Hamas in Doha, Qatar. This marks the first such engagement since the U.S. designated Hamas as a terrorist organization in 1997.

Direct U.S.-Hamas Talks Confirmed

White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt confirmed that U.S. officials have been in “ongoing discussions” with Hamas, mediated by Qatar and Egypt. She emphasized that President Trump authorized these engagements to protect American interests, particularly in securing the release of U.S. hostages.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s office acknowledged the talks but did not disclose further details.

No Breakthrough, But More Talks Expected

The negotiations, led by Adam Boehler, Trump’s nominee for special envoy for hostage affairs, focused on the release of American hostages and a possible ceasefire deal. A Hamas official confirmed the discussions but said no progress was made. However, he noted that the talks were a positive step and could continue.

Trump, who has taken a hardline stance on the conflict, has shown no interest in pressuring Israel to halt military operations. Instead, he signaled support for Israel’s ongoing offensive should Hamas refuse a ceasefire proposal.

New Ceasefire Plan in Limbo

The proposed deal, reportedly drafted by U.S. envoy Steve Witkoff, suggests Hamas release half of the remaining hostages in exchange for a ceasefire extension and negotiations for a long-term truce. Unlike previous agreements, this plan does not include the release of Palestinian prisoners.

Trump’s latest comments highlight growing tensions over hostage negotiations and the broader conflict in Gaza, as efforts to reach a lasting ceasefire remain uncertain.
