The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) demolished the homes of two Palestinian terrorists in the West Bank city of Hebron on Wednesday, following their involvement in a deadly attack in Tel Aviv in October. The terrorists, Ahmed Himouni, 25, and Mohammad Mesek, 19, were responsible for a shooting and stabbing spree that killed seven people and wounded 15 others on October 1.
The IDF carried out the demolition operations overnight, utilizing the Yahalom combat engineering unit and the Judea Regional Brigade. The two attackers used a rifle and a knife to attack civilians at a light rail station in the Jaffa area, before continuing their assault on Jerusalem Street. Mesek was killed by a security officer, and Himouni was severely wounded by armed civilians.
The attack was one of the deadliest in Israel in recent years, with victims including six Israeli citizens and one foreign national. The IDF also razed the home of a Palestinian terrorist, Hayil Dhaifallah, 58, responsible for a deadly truck-ramming attack on September 11, 2024, which killed Israeli soldier Geri Gideon Hanghal, 24.
Israel’s policy of demolishing the homes of terrorists has sparked debate, with critics calling it collective punishment, while the government maintains it as a deterrent against future attacks.
