Israeli police and the Shin Bet announced the arrest of Kamel Nashef, a 21-year-old from the Arab town of Taybeh, who is accused of swearing allegiance to the Islamic State (ISIS) and planning attacks in response to the ongoing war in Gaza. Authorities say Nashef contacted ISIS-linked figures starting in mid-2024 and provided intelligence to West Bank terror operatives, sending them photos of Israeli troops heading to Tulkarem for counterterror operations.
During his arrest, police reportedly found ISIS-related materials, a rifle, and Palestinian and ISIS flags in his possession. A video released by law enforcement showed some of the confiscated items. Nashef was set to be indicted on Thursday.
This case marks the second ISIS-related terror plot linked to Taybeh in recent months. In October, five residents of the town were accused of planning a car bombing at Tel Aviv’s Azrieli Mall under ISIS’s banner. Additionally, Palestinian terrorists with alleged ISIS ties have also been implicated in recent attacks, including a Hebron-based terrorist sentenced last month to three life terms for murdering three people in Jerusalem.
