Gaza War Enters Third Year as Israeli Attacks Kill Over 100 Amid Ongoing Peace Talks

Two years into the Israel-Gaza war, deadly Israeli strikes continue despite mediation efforts in Egypt to implement Trump’s peace plan

As the Israel-Gaza war reaches its two-year mark, Israeli attacks have intensified across the besieged enclave, killing at least 104 Palestinians since Friday — the same day US President Donald Trump urged Israel to halt its bombing campaign.

According to Gaza health officials, the death toll from Israel’s war has now reached 67,160 people, with another 169,679 wounded since the conflict erupted on October 7, 2023. Thousands more remain missing beneath the rubble of destroyed neighborhoods.

War Anniversary Marked by Renewed Violence

Despite mounting international pressure for a ceasefire, airstrikes and shelling continued through the weekend. Entire families were killed in Gaza City and Khan Younis as hospitals struggled to cope with the growing number of casualties.

The attacks come as Israeli and Hamas delegations, along with Egyptian mediators, meet in Sharm el-Sheikh to discuss Trump’s 20-point plan aimed at ending the war and securing the release of captives held in Gaza.

Grim Human Toll Two Years On

The war began after the October 7, 2023 Hamas attacks on Israel, which left 1,139 people dead and around 200 taken captive. Since then, Gaza has endured near-daily bombardments, a crippling siege, and widespread displacement.

The United Nations and major human rights organizations, including Israeli groups, have described Israel’s campaign as “genocidal”, citing mass civilian deaths, destruction of infrastructure, and the blockade’s catastrophic humanitarian impact.

Calls for Ceasefire and Accountability

Trump’s administration continues to push for an immediate exchange of captives as a first step toward implementing the wider peace plan. However, both sides remain divided on key terms, and the situation on the ground worsens daily.

As the Gaza war enters its third year, the toll — in lives, livelihoods, and hope — keeps rising, with no clear end in sight.
