Palestinians Face Explosive Dangers While UN and Red Cross Work to Recover Victims Amid Gaza Crisis
Gaza City — Israel is reportedly denying entry to international staff and aid supplies from the UN’s Palestinian refugee agency (UNRWA), defying a World Court ruling that called for humanitarian access.
Meanwhile, Hamas continues its efforts to locate the 13 remaining bodies of Israeli captives in Gaza. The group is coordinating with the Red Cross and Egyptian teams to search areas behind Israeli military lines.
Returning Palestinian civilians are facing growing risks from unexploded ordnance left behind by Israeli forces. So far, at least 53 people have been killed and hundreds more injured by these explosives.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu stated that Israel will decide which foreign forces can enter Gaza as part of a planned international ceasefire force, adding another layer of complexity to relief efforts.
Since October 2023, Israel’s military actions in Gaza have resulted in at least 68,519 deaths and 170,382 injuries. In Israel, 1,139 people were killed during the October 7 attacks, with approximately 200 taken captive.
The situation remains highly volatile, with humanitarian agencies struggling to deliver aid while hostilities and unexploded ordnance continue to endanger civilians.
