Rising Iran drone and missile threats across Gulf countries trigger air defense responses and regional alarm
Gulf countries activated air defenses early Monday as missiles and drones linked to Iran targeted multiple locations, marking a sharp escalation in regional tensions.
In the United Arab Emirates, one person was injured in Abu Dhabi after debris fell following the interception of a ballistic missile. Authorities confirmed the injured individual, an Indian national, suffered minor injuries in the Al Shawamekh area.
Air Defenses Activated Across the Gulf
The UAE said its military was responding to “incoming missile and drone attacks”, while other Gulf nations reported similar threats:
Saudi Arabia intercepted drones over its eastern region and northern borders
Kuwait confirmed it was countering “hostile missile and drone threats”
Bahrain activated warning sirens, signaling potential incoming attacks
The coordinated responses highlight growing concerns over regional security and airspace safety.
Attack Reported Inside Iran
Meanwhile, inside Iran, at least one person was killed and another injured in an attack in the southern port city of Bandar Abbas. The strike reportedly targeted a state broadcasting facility, part of Iran’s official media network.
Explosions were also reported in Tehran, where air defense systems were activated, suggesting further incoming threats.
Regional Tensions Intensify
The wave of attacks underscores the widening scope of the conflict, with multiple countries now directly involved in interception efforts. The use of drones and ballistic missiles raises fears of further escalation across the Gulf region.
As tensions rise, authorities remain on high alert, warning that additional strikes could follow, putting both civilian safety and regional stability at risk.
