Indonesian officials call for protection of peacekeepers after deadly attacks in southern Lebanon
The Indonesian Defence Ministry has strongly urged all parties in the Middle East conflict to respect international humanitarian law following the killing of three Indonesian peacekeepers in southern Lebanon.
Spokesman Rico Ricardo Sirait emphasized that “the safety of peacekeeping troops must be the top priority” and called on combatants to ensure the security of peacekeeping personnel.
Earlier, Indonesian Foreign Minister Sugiono described the attacks as “heinous” and condemned the loss of life. He also demanded a swift, thorough, and transparent investigation into the incident.
Indonesia’s statement underscores the country’s ongoing commitment to international peacekeeping missions and the protection of personnel serving in conflict zones. The government has reiterated its call for all warring parties to adhere strictly to international law to prevent further casualties.
