The Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) have confirmed that a drone launched from Yemen struck an apartment building in Yavne today. According to the IDF’s initial investigation, the drone took a long detour over Egypt before entering Israeli airspace near the Gaza Strip. It then flew north along the Mediterranean coastline toward Yavne.
The military detected the drone multiple times after it entered Israel’s airspace, but due to intermittent detection, they were unable to track its full route or trigger an early warning system. A fighter jet was scrambled to intercept the drone, but it arrived too late to prevent the attack, and the drone ultimately struck a penthouse apartment in Yavne, causing significant damage.
