Israel’s military has intensified its offensive in Gaza, killing at least 50 people since midnight, following evacuation orders issued to residents of Khan Younis in anticipation of what has been described as an “unprecedented attack.” The assault marks another escalation in a war that has already devastated the region.
International condemnation is growing. The leaders of Canada, France, and the United Kingdom have jointly warned Israel that they are prepared to take “concrete action” if the offensive is not halted. Meanwhile, 22 countries have called on Israel to allow humanitarian aid into Gaza, where the situation continues to deteriorate.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has rejected these demands, vowing to press ahead with operations, including plans for Israel to take control of the entire Gaza Strip.
According to Gaza’s Health Ministry, Israel’s war on Gaza has resulted in at least 53,475 deaths and 121,398 injuries. The Government Media Office later updated the death toll to over 61,700, noting that thousands of people are still missing and presumed dead under the rubble.
On the Israeli side, the Hamas-led attacks on October 7, 2023, killed approximately 1,139 people and led to the capture of over 200 individuals.
