Death and hunger grip Gaza amid ongoing Israeli strikes, with international outrage over West Bank settlement expansion.
In another day of bloodshed, at least 11 Palestinians — including people seeking humanitarian aid — were killed in Israeli attacks on Gaza since dawn, medical sources told Al Jazeera.
The humanitarian crisis is deepening. Gaza’s Health Ministry reported four more deaths from hunger in the past 24 hours, bringing the toll of starvation-related fatalities since the war began to 239, including 106 children. The enclave remains on the brink, with shortages of food, clean water, and medical supplies worsening by the day.
Since the start of the war, Israel’s offensive on Gaza has killed at least 61,776 people and wounded 154,906, according to local health officials.
While the human toll mounts, Israel faces international condemnation over plans to approve more than 3,000 housing units in the E1 area of the occupied West Bank. The United Nations warns the move could end any prospect of a two-state solution, while the European Union calls it a breach of international law.
In Israel, 1,139 people were killed during the October 7, 2023, attacks, and more than 200 remain in captivity.
