Hezbollah’s drone strike on an Israeli military training camp in Binyamina, near Haifa, resulted in the deaths of four soldiers and left over 60 others injured, marking one of the deadliest attacks on an Israeli base since September 23. As Israel ramped up its bombardment of Lebanon, clashes continued along the border.
In Gaza, an Israeli airstrike on a school being used as a shelter for displaced people claimed 15 lives, including entire families, while a separate overnight strike on a hospital killed four. United Nations peacekeepers reported that they had come under fire, with Israeli troops allegedly entering a UN position in southern Lebanon with two tanks, despite calls from Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu for the UN force to withdraw.
Hezbollah announced the drone attack was in retaliation for Israeli airstrikes that killed at least 22 people in central Beirut. In a statement, the group warned Israel that the recent strike in southern Haifa was just a glimpse of what was to come if their aggression continued.
An Israeli volunteer rescue service reported assisting over 60 wounded individuals with injuries ranging from mild to critical. Since late September, Hezbollah has intensified its rocket and drone assaults into Israel, claiming to support Hamas militants in Gaza.
Israel’s military has responded with airstrikes targeting Hezbollah positions, including launchers and weapons storage facilities, while ground troops engaged in clashes with Hezbollah fighters. Reports indicate that Israeli airstrikes in Lebanon have killed over 1,300 people since September 23, surpassing the total casualties during the 2006 Hezbollah-Israel war.
Additionally, the Pentagon announced plans to deploy a high-altitude anti-missile system and US military personnel to assist Israel in defending against potential Iranian attacks.
As the conflict escalates, both sides continue to suffer heavy casualties, with international calls for de-escalation and humanitarian assistance growing louder.
