IDF and Shin Bet Arrest Over 60 PFLP Operatives in West Bank and Lebanon

More than 60 members of the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP) have been apprehended during counterterror operations conducted by the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) and Shin Bet in both the West Bank and Lebanon, according to a joint statement.

Among those arrested in the West Bank is Abla Sa’adat, the head of the PFLP’s Women’s Committees Association and wife of the group’s leader, Ahmad Sa’adat, who has been imprisoned in Israel since 2006. Additionally, Tahrir Badran Gaber, an activist from Ramallah, was also detained.

The Women’s Committees Association of the PFLP has been designated a terrorist organization by Israeli authorities. The IDF and Shin Bet reported that key figures, including leaders of the PFLP in the West Bank and field operatives, were also taken into custody. Students affiliated with PFLP cells at West Bank universities were among those detained.

Troops conducted raids on offices and businesses linked to the PFLP, including shutting down a printing press that produced materials for the organization deemed inflammatory.

The military operations against the PFLP in Lebanon have intensified following the killing of Nidal Abd al-Aal, a commander of the group, at the end of September. The IDF and Shin Bet allege that Abd al-Aal was involved in planning and facilitating terror attacks in the West Bank.
