The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) announced that its Paratroopers Brigade successfully eliminated a group of armed Hezbollah operatives near a church in southern Lebanon. According to the military, the operatives were active in the area’s ground defense, anti-tank, and artillery operations.
The IDF stated that the church had been previously identified as a Hezbollah stronghold. The paratroopers identified the armed operatives near the site and opened fire, neutralizing them.
Following the incident, IDF soldiers scanned the church and discovered a tunnel shaft used to store weapons. The find underscores the terror group’s use of civilian structures for military purposes.
The IDF remains stationed in southern Lebanon under the terms of the ceasefire deal, which requires its withdrawal by late January.
