Minab School Strike in Iran Sparks Accusations Against US and Israel Amid Escalating Conflict

Iranian officials claimed Saturday that a U.S. or Israeli strike hit a girls elementary school in southern Iran, killing dozens of students in what Tehran described as a “blatant crime.”
According to Iran’s state-run Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA), at least 53 students were killed when the school in the city of Minab, located in Hormozgan province, was struck. The attack reportedly occurred in broad daylight as the school week began in Iran.
Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said on social media that the destroyed building was a primary school for girls and accused the attackers of killing “dozens of innocent children.”
“These crimes against the Iranian people will not go unanswered,” Araghchi wrote.
The semi-official Fars News Agency, which is affiliated with Iran’s Revolutionary Guard Corps, published a video on social media showing people screaming amid debris surrounding a heavily damaged building said to be the school.
However, CBS News reported it has not independently verified the claims or the video footage.
A representative for the United States Central Command (CENTCOM), which oversees U.S. military operations in the Middle East, told CBS News it had no statement regarding the alleged strike. CBS was also seeking comment from the Israeli military.
Meanwhile, The Associated Press reported that the White House did not immediately respond to requests for comment.
Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmaeil Baqaei accused the U.S. and Israel of carrying out “an egregious, unwarranted act of aggression” by allegedly targeting Iranian cities. He urged the international community and the United Nations Security Council to address what he called a “grave injustice.”
The claims come amid heightened tensions and ongoing military exchanges between Iran, the United States, and Israel. Independent verification of the incident remains pending.
