Tel Aviv strike follows Israel airstrikes on Tehran as tensions escalate across Middle East
A missile attack from Iran struck Tel Aviv early Tuesday, leaving four people lightly injured and causing significant damage to buildings and vehicles, according to Israeli emergency services.
Medics at the scene confirmed that all four injured individuals were treated on-site and did not require hospitalization. Despite the relatively low number of casualties, the blast caused widespread destruction, including a large crater and heavily damaged residential structures.
The Israeli military stated that the missile carried a conventional warhead with hundreds of kilograms of explosives, intensifying the impact on surrounding infrastructure. Authorities also confirmed that air defense systems failed to intercept the missile despite multiple attempts.
The strike was part of a broader wave of Iranian missile attacks targeting northern, central, and southern Israel, forcing millions of residents into bomb shelters overnight. Additional minor injuries were reported in other areas, including near Haifa.
The escalation followed a series of Israeli airstrikes on key Iranian military and intelligence sites in Tehran, including facilities linked to the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC). The Israeli military said it targeted command centers, missile storage facilities, and weapons production sites in an effort to weaken Iran’s operational capabilities.
Officials noted that Iran’s missile activity has slowed in recent days but remains a serious threat, with dozens of launch systems still active. Meanwhile, tensions have expanded beyond Israel, with regional impacts reported in Gulf countries, including drone interceptions and infrastructure disruptions.
At the diplomatic level, the United Nations Security Council is now considering a draft resolution calling for Iran to halt attacks and ensure safe navigation in the Strait of Hormuz, a critical global energy route. The ongoing disruption has already begun to affect global oil and gas supply chains, raising concerns over economic stability.
The situation remains highly volatile, with both military escalation and diplomatic efforts unfolding simultaneously, leaving the region on edge.
