Israel and Iran Exchange Blows Amid Warnings of Escalation; Trump Urges Tehran Evacuation

Tensions in the Middle East have reached a boiling point as Israel and Iran exchange direct attacks, pushing the region closer to large-scale warfare. Explosions were reported across Tehran late Monday night, while air raid sirens blared in Tel Aviv amid fears of incoming missile strikes.

Iran’s government declared it is preparing what it described as “the largest and most intense missile attack in history” against Israeli territory. The announcement comes in the wake of an Israeli airstrike that reportedly targeted Iranian state television facilities.

In an extraordinary statement, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu claimed that the potential assassination of Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, would not escalate the conflict but rather “end it.” The provocative remark drew condemnation from several international observers, warning of severe consequences if such action were taken.

Adding fuel to the fire, former U.S. President Donald Trump issued a dire warning on social media, urging all civilians in Tehran to evacuate immediately. Trump reiterated his long-standing opposition to a nuclear-armed Iran, writing: “Iran cannot have a nuclear weapon.”

The human toll continues to mount on both sides. Iranian officials say over 220 people have been killed in Israeli airstrikes in recent days, including at least 70 women and children. Meanwhile, Iranian missile attacks on Israeli targets have left more than 20 people dead, according to Israeli authorities.

The regional conflict is unfolding against the backdrop of Israel’s ongoing war in Gaza, where the Gaza Health Ministry reports at least 55,432 people killed and over 128,923 injured since the war began. The conflict was originally triggered by the October 7 attacks on Israel, in which 1,139 people were killed and more than 200 taken hostage.

With diplomatic channels failing and rhetoric escalating, global leaders are calling for urgent de-escalation to avoid a broader and potentially catastrophic war.
