Gaza City – Israeli forces have intensified their offensive in the besieged Gaza Strip, killing at least 54 people and destroying the only kidney dialysis centre in northern Gaza, according to Palestinian health authorities. The strike has left countless patients without access to life-saving treatment, deepening the region’s already dire humanitarian crisis.
The attack comes amid growing international outrage over the killings of dozens of Palestinians near food distribution points established by the US-backed Gaza Humanitarian Foundation (GHF). The United Nations and humanitarian aid groups have condemned the incident, describing it as a grave violation of international law, particularly as many of the victims were reportedly starving civilians seeking emergency food assistance.
Meanwhile, diplomatic efforts are underway to halt the violence. Egypt and Qatar have announced renewed initiatives aimed at securing a ceasefire deal based on a US-backed proposal. The plan calls for a 60-day truce and the expanded entry of humanitarian aid into Gaza.
The Gaza Health Ministry reports that Israel’s military campaign has killed at least 54,418 Palestinians and wounded more than 124,000 since October 7, 2023. The Gaza Government Media Office puts the actual death toll even higher—over 61,700—citing thousands of people still buried under rubble and presumed dead.
In Israel, the Hamas-led attacks on October 7 killed an estimated 1,139 people, with more than 200 others taken captive—events that triggered the ongoing war.
