Israel Intensifies Airstrikes in Southern Gaza, Hits Khan Younis Hard

Israeli forces attack Gaza’s Nasser Hospital amid intense bombardment

In one of the heaviest bombardments in recent weeks, Israeli forces launched at least 30 airstrikes within an hour across Khan Younis, a major city in southern Gaza. The concentrated assault marks a significant escalation in Israel’s ongoing military campaign in the enclave.

Among the sites targeted was Nasser Hospital, which was hit once again amid Israel’s expanding ground offensive in the region. The attack has reportedly killed at least 28 Palestinians since dawn, deepening the humanitarian crisis in the besieged territory.

While Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s office has announced plans to permit a limited amount of humanitarian aid into Gaza, no timeline has been confirmed for when the aid will actually reach those in need.

The toll of Israel’s war on Gaza continues to rise. According to the Gaza Health Ministry, at least 53,339 Palestinians have been killed and 121,034 wounded since the conflict began. However, the Government Media Office in Gaza has updated the death toll to over 61,700, citing thousands still missing and presumed dead beneath rubble and collapsed buildings.

The conflict was triggered by the Hamas-led attack on Israel on October 7, 2023, which left an estimated 1,139 people dead and over 200 taken captive.
