Syrian state television reported Israeli airstrikes on multiple bridges in the Qusayr region, close to the Lebanese border, on Monday. The Syrian Defense Ministry confirmed two civilians were injured in the attacks.
The airstrikes targeted the Al-Jubaniyeh, Al-Daf, Arjoun, and Al-Nizariyeh Gate bridges, according to Syrian state TV. The ministry described the Israeli airstrike as an “aggression” launched from Lebanese territory, which also caused material damage.
The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, based in the UK, stated that two individuals working with Hezbollah were killed and five others were injured in the strikes, citing initial reports.
Israel has significantly increased its military strikes in Syria since the conflict with Hezbollah, based in Lebanon, escalated into a full-scale war in late September. Israel has accused Hezbollah of using the border crossings to transfer weapons from Syria into Lebanon, as these routes are vital for refugees fleeing the conflict in Lebanon.
