Israel Strikes Syria as Gaza Toll Soars Past 58,000

Israel has intensified its military campaign, launching deadly airstrikes on both Gaza and Syria. As the death toll in Gaza surpasses 58,000, strikes on Damascus — including key government sites — raise fears of a broader regional conflict.

Over 90 Palestinians killed in 24 hours as Israeli air raids target Syria’s capital and deepen regional crisis

In a deadly escalation of the ongoing conflict, Israel has launched airstrikes on Syria while intensifying its military operations in Gaza.
Medical sources confirmed to Al Jazeera that at least 93 Palestinians were killed in Gaza in the past 24 hours alone. Among the dead were 30 individuals reportedly waiting for food aid — a stark indicator of the humanitarian catastrophe unfolding in the besieged territory.

According to Gaza’s Health Ministry, Israel’s war on Gaza has now claimed the lives of 58,573 people, with another 139,607 wounded, since the beginning of the offensive. The latest bombardments come as part of an unrelenting campaign following the Hamas-led attack on Israel on October 7, 2023, in which 1,139 Israelis were killed and more than 200 people taken hostage.

Simultaneously, Israel launched airstrikes in Syria, hitting key sites in the capital Damascus, including areas near the presidential palace and the Defence Ministry. At least three people were killed, and dozens injured in the attacks.

Syria’s Foreign Ministry condemned the strikes, calling them an attempt to “ignite tension and chaos” in an already volatile region. The attacks on Damascus and Suwayda mark a significant escalation in cross-border hostilities, with potential consequences for broader Middle Eastern stability.

As Israel expands its military operations beyond Gaza, international concern is mounting over the growing humanitarian toll and the risk of regional destabilization.
