Israel Violates Gaza Ceasefire Nearly 500 Times, Hundreds Killed in 44 Days

Gaza Faces Deadly Airstrikes and Humanitarian Crisis as Truce Continues to Collapse

GAZA CITY — Israel has violated the US-brokered Gaza ceasefire at least 497 times in 44 days, killing hundreds of Palestinians, according to the Gaza Government Media Office. The violations highlight the fragility of the six-week-old truce and raise urgent humanitarian concerns.

Of the fatalities, 342 were civilians, including children, women, and the elderly, who bear the brunt of the attacks. The Gaza Government Media Office condemned the violations, calling them a “flagrant breach of international humanitarian law” and holding Israel fully responsible for the resulting humanitarian and security repercussions.

On Saturday alone, 27 violations were reported, leaving 24 Palestinians dead and 87 wounded. Israeli airstrikes continued across Gaza, targeting areas despite the declared truce. Israel’s Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s office claimed the attacks were in response to a Hamas fighter who allegedly attacked Israeli soldiers near Gaza’s so-called yellow line, killing five senior Hamas members in return.

Hamas has demanded Israel reveal the identity of the alleged attacker and called on the US and mediators to ensure the truce is upheld. Senior Hamas official Izzat al-Risheq criticized Israel for “fabricating pretexts to evade the agreement and return to a war of extermination.”

Observers and journalists on the ground describe the ceasefire as “a ceasefire in name only.” Al Jazeera’s Tareq Abu Azzoum reported from Gaza City that despite the truce, airstrikes have left Palestinians with a shattered sense of safety, with families trapped in northern Gaza as Israeli forces reposition deeper into the enclave.

The yellow line, an unmarked boundary established in the agreement, has been routinely violated, giving Israel control over more than half of Gaza’s coastal territory. Gaza authorities have also raised concerns about the treatment of bodies returned by Israel under the truce, citing signs of torture, mutilation, and execution. Of the 330 bodies returned, only 90 have been positively identified due to a lack of adequate forensic equipment.

Conclusion:
The Gaza ceasefire remains under severe strain, with repeated violations escalating both humanitarian and security crises. As civilians continue to suffer, international attention and action are crucial. Follow, share, and comment to stay updated on the ongoing Israel Gaza War and its humanitarian impact.
