Israeli Air Raids Strike Gaza as West Bank Violence Escalates

As Israel’s war on Gaza continues, new airstrikes in Khan Younis and deadly West Bank attacks deepen the humanitarian crisis and stall hopes for lasting peace.

Fresh Israeli air raids have hit southern Gaza, with explosions reported in the city of Khan Younis overnight. The strikes come despite a ceasefire agreement that has done little to halt the violence. According to Gaza health officials, the death toll in the enclave has climbed to 236 since the truce was announced.

Rising Deaths in the West Bank

In the occupied West Bank, tensions are also escalating. Two Palestinians, including a teenager, were killed in separate attacks carried out by Israeli forces and armed settlers, local authorities confirmed. The latest killings underscore the fragile security situation across Palestinian territories as clashes and raids continue almost daily.

Hamas Hands Over More Captives

Meanwhile, Hamas has returned the bodies of three Israeli captives to Israeli authorities after what the group called a “complex search operation” in Gaza City. The exchange marks another grim chapter in a conflict that has left both sides mourning immense loss.

Mounting Casualties and Human Cost

Since October 2023, when the current phase of Israel’s war on Gaza began, at least 68,858 Palestinians have been killed and 170,664 wounded, according to Gaza’s Ministry of Health. On the Israeli side, 1,139 people were killed during the October 7 Hamas-led attacks, and roughly 200 were taken captive — many of whom remain unaccounted for.

The ceasefire, once seen as a fragile path toward calm, now appears to be unraveling under renewed violence. Analysts warn that without a sustainable political solution, both Gaza and the West Bank risk sinking deeper into instability and humanitarian despair.
