Israeli Drone Strike Kills 2 in Gaza Amid Ongoing Ceasefire Efforts

Hamas Returns Deceased Captive as Gaza Faces Aid Shortages and Rising Casualties

Despite an ongoing ceasefire, an Israeli drone attack near Khan Younis in southern Gaza killed at least two people, local officials at Nasser Hospital reported. The attack comes as Hamas handed over the remains of another deceased captive, under increasing pressure from Israel to return the 12 remaining bodies.

Palestinians continue to bury dozens of bodies returned by Israel, many showing signs of torture and mutilation, highlighting the human cost of the conflict. Meanwhile, residents struggle to access basic essentials, as Israel maintains tight control over aid entering the Strip.

Israel has also rejected U.S. proposals for Turkish soldiers to join an international force overseeing the ceasefire, according to Israel’s top diplomat. The ongoing Israel-Gaza conflict has resulted in at least 68,527 deaths and 170,395 injuries in Gaza since October 2023. In Israel, the October 7, 2023, Hamas-led attacks killed 1,139 people, with approximately 200 taken captive.

The exchange of bodies underscores the complex humanitarian and political dynamics in Gaza, as both sides navigate the delicate ceasefire while civilians bear the heaviest burden.
