Gaza City — At least 31 Palestinians have been killed in a fresh wave of Israeli attacks across the Gaza Strip, as a relentless blockade continues to push the besieged enclave towards catastrophic levels of starvation.
Among the dead are 13 people, including displaced civilians, killed in a strike on al-Karama School in the Tuffah neighborhood of Gaza City. The school was reportedly being used as a shelter amid ongoing bombardments.
In northern Gaza, three more were killed in a strike on a home in Jabalia, while in the south, eight people — a father, his children, and cousins — died in Khan Younis. Five of the casualties were killed when their house was hit.
Further south in Deir el-Balah, central Gaza, a strike on a tent shelter claimed three lives, including that of a child. In Bani Suheila village, a husband and wife were killed in an air raid on their home.
The assaults come on the heels of another deadly attack on Tuesday night, when 31 people were reportedly killed in a strike on a school sheltering displaced families in the Bureij refugee camp.
These attacks unfold as Gaza suffers under a blockade that has severely limited access to food and fuel since March 2. Aid agencies warn of rapidly depleting supplies, with flour and other staples nearly gone. The United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA) reports that many families are surviving on bread alone.
“The State of Israel must lift the siege,” UNRWA posted on X. “There must be a concerted international effort to stop this humanitarian catastrophe from reaching a new unseen level.”
Gaza’s health system is also nearing collapse, with 88 percent of hospital beds occupied and a critical shortage of medical supplies and equipment.
