A 17-year-old Israeli girl, Yahli Gur, who was critically injured in a car-ramming terror attack in northern Israel last week, has succumbed to her injuries.
Gur was among 13 people struck when a Palestinian driver rammed his vehicle into a crowd at a bus stop near Pardes Hanna on Thursday. She was rushed to Hillel Yaffe Hospital in critical condition but passed away six days later.
Pardes Hanna-Karkur Mayor Yoni Hakimi expressed deep sorrow over her passing, while Harish Mayor Yitzhak Keshet extended condolences to her grieving family. Gur, the eldest of four siblings, was a student in Harish and an active leader in the Hashomer Hatzair youth movement.
The attack also left a 60-year-old man and a 19-year-old woman with serious head injuries, while an 18-year-old sustained moderate injuries. The remaining victims suffered minor wounds, according to the Magen David Adom emergency service.
The assailant, identified as 53-year-old Jamil Zayoud from Jenin, fled the scene but was pursued by police. Authorities said he attempted to ram a police vehicle before exiting his car armed with a screwdriver, trying to stab officers. He was shot and killed by security forces.
While no group claimed responsibility for the attack, Hamas praised the incident.
