Israel’s Dawn Assault on Gaza Leaves 17 Dead, Hunger Crisis Deepens

Pregnant woman and unborn child among those killed as humanitarian toll escalates in Gaza City.

At least 17 Palestinians have been killed in Israeli attacks across Gaza since dawn, according to medical sources cited by Al Jazeera. Among the dead are six people who were seeking food aid, highlighting the worsening humanitarian emergency.

The Gaza Health Ministry reported that hunger-related deaths have now reached 348, underscoring the devastating impact of food shortages amid the ongoing conflict.

In one of the most tragic incidents, Israeli strikes killed a pregnant woman and her unborn baby near the Shati refugee camp, intensifying grief and outrage among Palestinians.

As Israeli forces push further into Gaza City—where nearly one million displaced people have been sheltering—residents continue to flee, despite there being no safe refuge left within the besieged enclave.

Since the start of the war, Israel’s offensive has killed at least 63,557 Palestinians and wounded more than 160,660. By contrast, the Hamas-led October 7, 2023 attacks left 1,139 people dead in Israel, with around 200 others taken captive.
