Russia Downs 83 Ukrainian Drones Over Krasnodar Region

Russia’s defense units reported shooting down 83 Ukrainian drones over the Krasnodar region in a series of overnight attacks, which damaged several homes, including in the Black Sea port of Tuapse. The Russian defense ministry confirmed the destruction of 128 drones in total across the country but did not provide further details on the extent of the damage caused by Ukrainian strikes.

Krasnodar Governor Veniamin Kondratyev stated on Telegram that three residential houses were affected in the region, although no injuries have been reported. One house in Tuapse caught fire, but the blaze has since been extinguished, according to Sergei Boiko, head of the Tuapse municipality. The air defense systems in the area remained operational during the incident.

The SHOT news channel, reporting on Telegram, claimed that Ukrainian drones targeted the port area of Tuapse, with locals hearing around 40 explosions, which they attributed to air defense systems. Reuters could not independently verify this report, and Ukraine has not commented on the incident.

Tuapse is home to Russia’s largest oil refinery on the Black Sea, which has been a frequent target of Ukrainian drone strikes since the conflict began. Russia’s aviation authority, Rosaviatsia, also announced that Sochi’s international airport, located about 150 km southeast of Tuapse, was closed to air traffic to maintain air safety.
