Saudi Arabia and France Push for Palestine Recognition at UN Peace Summit

Kingdom’s foreign minister condemns Israeli aggression and urges global support for a two-state solution

At a landmark UN peace conference in New York, Saudi Arabia and France joined forces to call for the global recognition of Palestine and an immediate end to Israeli aggression in Gaza and the West Bank.

Speaking on behalf of Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan delivered a strong message: Israel’s actions “threaten regional and international peace and stability” and undermine decades of efforts toward peace in the Middle East.

The summit, co-chaired by Saudi Arabia and France, came as violence continues to escalate across the region. Prince Faisal denounced what he described as “brutal crimes” in Gaza, Jerusalem, and the West Bank, and condemned “repeated attacks on the sovereignty of Arab and Muslim countries,” including a recent Israeli strike on Doha.

Saudi Arabia also reaffirmed its backing of a two-state solution based on 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as the Palestinian capital. Prince Faisal stressed that only this path can deliver lasting peace and stability.

The foreign minister welcomed France’s recent recognition of Palestine and praised the UN General Assembly vote, where 142 out of 193 member states supported the “New York Declaration on the Peaceful Settlement of the Question of Palestine.” He urged other countries to take what he called a “historic step” in officially recognizing Palestinian statehood.

“Such action will have a great impact on supporting efforts toward the two-state solution, achieving permanent and comprehensive peace, and creating a new reality of stability and prosperity in the Middle East,” Prince Faisal said.

Saudi Arabia pledged to work closely with France and other nations to build on the outcomes of the summit, push for an end to the war in Gaza, and stop unilateral moves that undermine Palestinian sovereignty.
