Riyadh calls for immediate ceasefire, international accountability, and protection of Palestinian civilians.
Riyadh — Saudi Arabia has issued a strong condemnation of Israel’s latest military escalation in Gaza, particularly denouncing the targeting of the Gaza European Hospital in Khan Younis and the broader assaults on civilian infrastructure.
In a statement released Thursday, the Saudi Ministry of Foreign Affairs reaffirmed the Kingdom’s “categorical rejection of the continuation of the Israeli crimes of genocide” against Palestinian civilians. The statement followed reports that the Gaza European Hospital, the only functioning facility for cancer patients in the enclave, was rendered out of service after Israeli strikes damaged its infrastructure and surrounding roads. Several civilians were killed or injured in the attack.
Call for Global Responsibility
“The Kingdom holds the Israeli occupation forces fully responsible for their continued violation of all international and humanitarian norms and laws,” the ministry declared.
The ministry emphasized the urgent need for a ceasefire, reiterating Saudi Arabia’s support for the Palestinian people and urging international accountability for what it characterized as clear breaches of international law by Israel.
The statement, reported by the Saudi Press Agency (SPA), comes amid rising international concern over the humanitarian crisis in Gaza, which has intensified following weeks of airstrikes and ground operations.
Humanitarian Crisis Deepens
The destruction of the hospital further strains Gaza’s collapsing health infrastructure. Human rights organizations and UN agencies have repeatedly warned of a critical health emergency, with hospitals overwhelmed, medical supplies running out, and patients—particularly those with chronic conditions—left without care.
Saudi Arabia’s strong diplomatic stance adds to a growing chorus of nations calling for de-escalation and the protection of civilians. Riyadh continues to advocate for international legal mechanisms to hold violators accountable.
