Syria Accuses Hezbollah of Killing Three Soldiers, Tensions Escalate Along Border

Syria has accused Lebanon’s Hezbollah group of abducting and killing three Syrian soldiers along the Syrian-Lebanese border. The Syrian defense ministry stated that a Hezbollah militia group kidnapped the soldiers near the Zeita Dam, west of Homs, before transporting them to Lebanese territory, where they were allegedly killed.

The ministry condemned the incident as a “dangerous escalation” and pledged to take “necessary measures” in response. However, Hezbollah denied any involvement in the clash, asserting that it had no connection to the events along the border. In a statement, the group emphasized that it had no role in the reported violence within Syrian territory.

Adding to the tension, Lebanon’s state news agency reported that rockets fired from Syrian territory struck the Lebanese village of Qasr near the border. No further details on the incident were provided.

Hezbollah, a strong supporter of Syria’s former president Bashar Assad, has faced increasing accusations of supporting cross-border smuggling operations. In recent weeks, Syria launched a security campaign in the border province of Homs, aiming to shut down illicit smuggling routes, with Hezbollah allegedly sponsoring these activities.
