A 17-year-old Arab-Israeli from Jisr az-Zarqa was arrested earlier this month on suspicion of planning a terror attack in Israel after swearing allegiance to ISIS. The youth, whose name was withheld due to his age, was found in possession of documents detailing explosives production. The investigation led to a joint statement from police and the Shin Bet security service, revealing the suspect had been plotting an attack in north-central Israel on behalf of ISIS.
Authorities have filed an indictment against the teen and requested an extension of his detention until the court proceedings are concluded. In recent months, several Arab Israelis have been arrested on similar charges, having sworn loyalty to ISIS and attempting to carry out attacks.
The case highlights the ongoing concerns about ISIS-linked activities within Israel, as previous arrests involved individuals planning attacks or attempting to join ISIS operations. These incidents raise alarm over the growing influence of extremist ideologies among some Arab Israelis.
