Tensions Escalate Between India and Pakistan Amid Growing Military Clashes

Pakistan and India exchange heavy accusations and military strikes, leading to rising casualties as tensions intensify.

Islamabad, Pakistan – Tensions between India and Pakistan have surged as both sides continue to trade claims of attacks, leading to military strikes and casualties on both sides. Pakistan has rejected claims by India’s armed forces that military stations in Indian-administered Kashmir (Jammu and Udhampur) and Punjab’s Pathankot were hit by drone and missile strikes. No casualties were reported from these incidents.

Pakistan’s Information Minister stated that his country had only carried out “defensive responses” to India’s attacks, which Pakistan’s military claims involved the launch of attack drones into Pakistani territory on Thursday, killing at least two civilians.

The violence has escalated following a series of missile strikes launched by India on Wednesday, targeting what it described as terrorist camps in Pakistan and Pakistan-administered Kashmir. At least 48 people have been reported killed so far, with 32 casualties in Pakistan. Pakistan retaliated with a heavy barrage of artillery fire in response to the Indian attacks.

This latest wave of clashes follows mounting tensions between the two nuclear-armed nations, triggered by a deadly attack in Indian-administered Kashmir’s Pahalgam on April 22, which India blamed on Pakistan. Pakistan has categorically denied any involvement in the attack.

Both countries continue to accuse each other of escalating violence, fueling fears of further military confrontations in the volatile region.
