Iran’s Supreme Leader and president were reportedly among the targets of the first wave of Israeli strikes carried out as part of a joint US-Israel attack on Iran, according to a source familiar with the operation.

A source involved in the strikes told CBS News that Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, Iran’s Supreme Leader, and President Masoud Pezeshkian were included on the target list during the initial round of attacks.

According to The Associated Press, early strikes appeared to focus on Khamenei’s residence in downtown Tehran. It was not immediately clear whether the Supreme Leader was present at the location at the time of the attack.

Iranian state media later reported that both Khamenei and Pezeshkian were safe, though independent confirmation was not immediately available.

The reported targeting of Iran’s top leadership marks a significant escalation in the ongoing Iran conflict, raising concerns about further retaliation and regional instability.

The joint operation represents one of the most direct actions yet against Iran’s political leadership amid rising tensions between Tehran, Washington, and Jerusalem.
