Lebanon Conflict Escalates as Israeli Airstrikes Hit Beirut, Bekaa Valley and Southern Towns

BEIRUT, Lebanon: Powerful Israeli airstrikes struck the southern suburbs of Beirut shortly after midnight, sending shockwaves across the Lebanese capital and intensifying fears as the Lebanon conflict continues to escalate.

Residents across the city reported hearing two massive explosions that shook buildings and rattled windows far beyond Dahiyeh, the collective name for Beirut’s southern suburbs. The area has been repeatedly targeted by Israeli airstrikes since hostilities sharply increased about ten days ago.

Witnesses described the blasts as among the strongest strikes in recent days, with the tremors felt across multiple districts of Beirut.

Strikes Extend Beyond Beirut

The overnight attacks were not limited to the capital. In the past hour, reports confirmed another Israeli airstrike in the Bekaa Valley, a strategic region in eastern Lebanon near the Syrian border.

Additional strikes were also reported across towns and villages in southern Lebanon, further widening the scope of the ongoing military campaign.

Security analysts say the widening range of attacks indicates a broader escalation in the Lebanon conflict, raising concerns about the potential for further regional instability.

Red Cross Paramedic Killed in Earlier Strike

The Lebanese Ministry of Health confirmed the death of a Lebanese Red Cross paramedic who succumbed to injuries after his ambulance was struck by an Israeli airstrike a day earlier.

According to officials, the paramedic and a colleague were traveling in a clearly marked ambulance to rescue wounded civilians in southern Lebanon when the vehicle was hit.

He is now the fourth Red Cross paramedic wounded within the past week, highlighting the growing risks faced by medical personnel operating in the conflict zone.

Lebanon Condemns Attack on Medical Workers

The Health Ministry strongly condemned the strike, emphasizing that the paramedics were responding to a humanitarian emergency and were clearly identified as medical workers.

Officials have called for urgent international intervention, urging the global community to prevent the targeting of medical personnel and emergency responders during the ongoing Lebanon conflict.

As Israeli airstrikes continue across multiple regions, fears are growing that the situation could further deteriorate in the coming days.
