Jordan Air Defenses Down Drones and Missiles After US-Israel Strikes on Iran
February 28, 2026 – 12:02 PM
Jordan’s armed forces said they successfully intercepted 13 ballistic missiles since Saturday morning as tensions escalated following the recent US-Israel strikes on Iran.
In a statement, a Jordanian military source said the armed forces engaged 49 drones and ballistic missiles targeting Jordanian territory. According to the statement, 13 ballistic missiles were intercepted by Jordan air defenses, while additional drones were shot down.
Authorities reported some material damage but confirmed no casualties.
The interceptions come as Iran launched retaliatory attacks across the region following U.S. and Israeli military operations. Countries reportedly targeted include the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, Qatar, Kuwait, and Jordan.
Meanwhile, U.S. embassies and consulates in Qatar, the United Arab Emirates, and Israel advised staff to shelter in place, urging American citizens in those countries to take similar precautions until further notice.
The developments mark another sharp escalation in the widening regional crisis, as multiple nations activate air defense systems to counter incoming missile and drone threats.
