Kuwait airport drone strike sparks fire as air defense systems respond to aerial threats

Kuwait’s air defense systems were activated on Wednesday to intercept missile and drone attacks, as the country faced rising regional security threats. Authorities confirmed that multiple hostile targets were successfully engaged in the air.

In an official statement shared on social media, the army said that loud explosions reported by residents were the result of air defense interceptions, not direct impacts on populated areas.

Earlier in the day, a drone strike hit Kuwait airport, causing a fire in a fuel storage tank. Emergency response teams were quickly deployed, with firefighters working to control the blaze and prevent further damage.

The civil aviation authority confirmed that emergency protocols were immediately activated, ensuring the safety of airport operations and nearby facilities. Initial assessments indicated that the incident caused material damage only, with no casualties reported.

The attack highlights growing concerns over aerial threats in the region, as countries continue to strengthen their air defense capabilities in response to escalating tensions.
